I admire Michael Hunter – he’s doing a great job telling the world about testing. He just presented Hallmarks of a Great Tester at STAREast, and won the Best Paper award.
Congrats, Michael. And I love your presentation!

I have a 15″ MacBook Pro with a serial number starting with W860. It’s running Mac OS X 10.4.6.
After I installed the SMC Firmware update, my machine crashed right after startup. After some experimentation, I discovered it would only crash if there was an active network connection (wireless or wired).
With even more experimentation, I discovered that removing the Canon UFR II helper thing from the login items (system preferences -> accounts -> login items) stopped the crash.
I hope this info saves someone else from some frustration.
