Why I like Tinderbox (the other one)

I’m using Tinderbox to help organize my thoughts, notes, and life in general. As mentioned earlier, I started with Ryan Holcomb‘s GTD Improved file, and have been customizing it over the past few days.

And I ran in to a problem. The agents in the Professional Agents and Personal Agents sections stopped updating.

After searching online and failing to find any solutions, I sent off a support request.

Mark Bernstein replied the next day with the answer. I goofed in one of my changes, and Tinderbox got confused.

I appreciate the time Mark spent going over my problem, and how quickly he responded.

When I asked if I could get extra diagnostic info from the program to help me track down problems like this, Mark replied:

Not at present; Tinderbox tries hard not to have error messages. We’re likely to give up on that particular resolution soon, though.

A reasonable response! Wow!

So, Tinderbox is an application with a lot of power, a few dedicated power-users who share info, a developer/lead/company who cares enough to reply quickly and reasonably, and a cool name.

That’s why I like Tinderbox.

(I’ll write up the technical details of the problem, and solution, on a separate page. It’s on my actions list, so I won’t forget!)
